Lough Dan camping trip
On the day I got my Junior Certificate results my whole year and I went on a camping trip for two nights to Louth Dan.
On on the first day, the most important thing I learnt was how to erect a tent, Sally, Amy, Molly, Alex and I all followed the instructions to erect our five man tent. What we realised immediately was that all of us needed to help each other as a group, because at the beginning when we were doing parts of the tent individually, it was all falling down. We also did a 6km walk that day, which we all really enjoyed.
That night my tent made pesto pasta and we barbecued chicken. The pasta was easy to make, but we realised the chicken was going to take longer than we expected, the chicken wouldn't cook on the throw away barbecue, so our alternative was to cook it on the big barbecue where everyone went to stay warm, which cooked it much quicker

The next day the first thing we noticed was that all of our pegs that were keeping our tent down came up from the wind. So we learned how to properly put the tent down from some of the boys who had gone camping before, which was really helpful. Later on that day we went on a 22km walk, which was one of the highlights of the trip, two things from many that I can take from that walk, is to bring lots of water and to save your energy. The teachers made us burgers on the last night, so our tent didn't make dinner for ourselves that night, and only made s'mores on the fire.
We all cleaned the campsite before going home the last morning to our parents. The camping trip is already one of the highlights of my TY experience. I learnt a lot about how I can be much more independent than I thought I could be, and the whole year bonded as a group and with the teachers. It was all and all an amazing trip
