The Importance Of Being Ernest
I have been doing Drama with Ms. Carney every year since I was five years old, we do a new play every year and this year we decided that we were going to take on the challenge of performing ‘The Importance Of Being Ernest’, I had heard the name of this play before , but never knew what the story line was.
Oscar Wilde is one of Mrs.Carneys favourite writers and she was really excited to be directing this production, although we knew it would be a challenge because of the old English used. After we all looked over the script, we decided what parts we would audition for, almost everyone got the parts they wanted and we started rehearsals, immediately after.
I played the role of Cecily Cardew and I absolutely loved it, she was a young, funny and bubbly character and was full of life. We all worked together to make sure that our costumes, props and stage was perfect. Lilykate and I both painted one of the backdrops for the garden scene and it really stood out on stage. Ms.Carney organised most of the girls costumes, but the boys bought most of their own clothes.
Our first performance was for our friends, which is always the hardest, but they were an amazing audience and we were ready for the night show after performing for them. There was so much work put into to making sure that we looked our part, we all studied the way our hair should be worn, and Mrs.Carney brought in a professional makeup artist to make sure our makeup was suitable for the era.
After months of rehearsals our most important show had finally arrived, all of hard work had payed off and the audience absolutely loved it. I have always loved drama and can’t wait to perform again.

Summer Concert
On the 26th of April I participated in our schools Summer Concert, this happens every year and its always something that I look forward to. This year I performed with the choir, I always did two duets and one trio.
The choir started off the show with a tribute to ‘The Greatest Showman’ and closed off the show with a ‘Queen’ medley, both performances were outstanding and the audience loved them.
My sister, Mia and I had been practicing for her sixth year music practical exam with the song, ‘I Know Him So Well’ and were asked to perform it again at the Summer Concert, I always love singing with my sister and I was glad I got the opportunity of doing it this year as it would be our last time singing in Gerards together.
My second song was ‘Shake it Out’, a trio with Amy Mac Nulty and Lilykate Hearns. It has been a tradition since first year that we sing a song together at the summer concert, but this was by far my favourite yet.
My third and final performance was with my friend Luke, we sang a song from our musical, ‘Legally Blonde’. It was really nice being able to sing with Luke again and I hope I get to do it again in the future.
